Introduction

A nice find, finished properly.

A sunlit sitting room with a restored armchair and timber table

Nicefind is a small Manchester workshop selling upscaled furniture. We buy tired but sound pieces, repair what has failed, and finish them so they can go straight into a house.

Nothing here is a reproduction. The Ancoats bureau, the chapel settle, the mill dresser: each one already has a date and a previous room. Upscaling means the frame is checked, the drawers run, the finish is deliberate, and the story of the timber is still visible.

Every piece on the site is one of one. When it sells, the page comes down. Collection is from the workshop in Ancoats, or we can arrange a van in the North West.

What recycling a piece actually saves

Upscaling is slower than buying new, and that is the point. A chest that already exists does not need another tree, another factory run, or another flat-pack journey from a port.

  • A solid timber carcass is reused instead of chipped or burned.
  • Original brass, hinges and locks stay on the piece whenever they still work.
  • Finish is repaired in the workshop, not replaced with a new imported frame.
  • You get joinery that was built to be tightened, not thrown away.
  • One owner, one room: the piece is not part of a seasonal range.
